APD | ASIAD 2018: Vietnam tops Group D after defeating Japan

By APD writer AliceHanoi, August 19 (APD) – Vietnam’s football team topped Group D at the 2018 Asian Games (ASIAD) after beating Japan 1-0 in the third match in Indonesia on August 19.The last group match between Vietnam and Japan took place at the Wibawa Mukti Stadium in West Java, Indonesia.A lapse in Japan's defense was seized by midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai to put Vietnam ahead right in the third minute.A few minutes later, Hai, wearing number 19, had another shoot but it was saved by the Japanese goalkeeper.Half an hour into the game, Vietnam has apparently launched more and stronger attacks. Its defenders were also all attentive.Japan went into the second half with more attacks, having several shoots saved by the goal keeper during the first minutes. The game really went up a notch with strong attacks from both teams.Vietnam sent Nguyen Cong Phuong, one of its main strikers, into the game in the 57th minute.In the 77th minute, striker Nguyen Quang Hai left the game with injuries. By APD writer Aditya NugrahaJAKARTA, Aug. 19 (APD) — Host country Indonesia won gold medal on Sunday in Taekwondo sports after a silver medal earned by the nation’s wushu athlete earlier in the day, placing its rank to number 4 of overall teams participating in the 18th Asian Games held in two cities of Jakarta and Palembang.The gold medals was earned by Indonesian female Taekwondo athlete Dafia Rosmaniar in poomsai discipline, held in Jakarta landmark convention center of JCC. She defeated Iranian athlete Marjan Salahshouri in gathering points from the referees. The gold medal was handed over by Indonesia President Joko Widodo who watched the competition. Elsewhere in another Asian Games venue in Jakarta, an Indonesian wushu athlete won the first medal for the country. A total of 185 athletes including 129 men and 56 women are representing Nepal in the Games. The lone Gold medalist in the 10th South Asian Games weightlifter Kamal Bahadur Adhikari was the flag bearer for the Nepali delegation in the inaugural event of the Games. The Nepali team including a total of 285 members is led by Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Biswakarma while Member-Secretary of NSC Keshav Kumar Bista is the Chef de mission.Likewise, Nepal has entered quarter-final in the men's category of badminton under the Asian Games. Defeating Pakistan 3-1 in today's group match, Nepal entered the quarter-final, said Main Coach of Badminton, Sudeep Yonjan, who is in Jakarta, Indonesia. Ratnajit Tamang, Dipesh Dhami, Bikas Shrestha and Nabin Shrestha are in Male Badminton Team of Nepal.
